Mix Speaker's Inc. : 5th Anniversary Mix Expo Opening Ceremony Cosplay Party at Ginza BENOA 2012/02/19

5th Anniversary Mix Expo Opening Ceremony Cosplay Party at Ginza BENOA, 2012/02/19

To an event of the different kind had Mix Speaker's,Inc. invited their fans in the middle of February. As the group is currently celebrating its 5th Anniversary year since their formation in 2007, they had gathered a small selected audience in high class shopping district Ginza in Tokyo. And while the usual pedestrian might have seen things he might not have seen before, with all the colorful cosplay-ers around, the guest of this event themselves were able to experience something extra ordinary.

As the name of the event stated, everyone participating had to appear in the costume of one of the Mix Speaker's,Inc. members and so the elegant place, set up with tables, big screens to all sides and a stage at its end, was filled with colorful costumes from all MSI eras.

As the lights in the hall turned dark and the spot lights illuminated the stage only, one by one the band members appeared on stage in the outfits of their latest single "Shiny tale" (Release date: 2012/02/24). They all took their seat with a little difficulties due to their spacious costumes, and shortly introduced themselves.

All guests and the band raised their glasses to celebrate the opening ceremony to their 5th Anniversary, before reviewing the history in three parts: "FORMATION", "TURNING POINT" and "FUTURE". One by one the group pictures of all previous outfits were shown on the screens with the members talking about each period and different little episodes on each.

seek: "AYA and MIKI have started it all, haven't you?"
AYA: "We did, because we thought that we wanted to be in a band again. YUKI came all the way from Kyoto at that time after we had met first."

YUKI: "Usually you would feel that with two vocalists it would feel strange, however, it didn't at all."

seek: "Before we started, we had a sort of secret schedule, where we would play in front of only about 10 people."

S: "There were literally no people in front and in the back they were sitting down."

seek: "At that time, we released a CD and no matter how to put it, it would turn out in red numbers, however, we wanted to create something as a memory, which was the 'Mix Speaker's BOX'. At this time, we had also already planned that we would play at C.C. Lemon Hall, even though everything at that time started from scratch."

2008 Eventually marked a turning point for Mix Speaker's,Inc. when they changed from the original "MONSTERS" story to the "Wonder Traveling" story.

seek: "At that point we wanted to make a new story and we thought on how to best do it, taking in all the ideas from the fans as well. AYA and keiji eventually came up with the idea. Howe did you do it?"

AYA: "I just like the universe."

keiji: "Me, too. And actually I really think that that guy in blue is very cool."

seek: "By the way, the little gimmicks in the background (of the artist photos) were made by MIKI."

S: "Also for the artist photo, the helmet my character is wearing, was actually held by a staff person (you can't see in the picture)."

At the stage, when "Romeo no Melody" was released, the band underwent another great change, which had been thought of by seek and S at that time.

seek: "It is always difficult to figure out, where to set the standard for the new concepts and we always wonder how well the concept is coming across each time."

In 2010, Mix Speaker's,Inc. changed once again to their Animal Zombies story, situated at "Mix Land". With these outfits the band played the Hibiya Open Air concert Hall. Eventually, the most recent costumes were shown, before Mix Speaker's,Inc. announced their new mini album (Release Date: 2012/05/23) and eventually presenting a very special acoustic live performance.

"Hearing our song 'Shiny tale' in an acoustic version is certainly something very rare." YUKI said, introducing the song, before they started playing.
Another highlight was most certainly the performance of S with Mix Speaker's,Inc. for which S took over the vocals, seek and MIKI the guitars, AYA the bass and keiji the acoustic wooden drum to sing "Happy Birthday" - of course to MSI and the little exclusive crowd powerfully went along clapping and cheering.
The last song of the short set was "If".

"We are very happy that you came and dressed up as us. Thanks a lot for this event" YUKI said. "The next song is the last, but even though it is not a happy song, it is one of great memories."

With powerful voices, the charm of subdued drums and acoustic guitars, led by strong bass lines, the song created another highlight of the day. The mirror ball on the ceiling reflected a hundred little lights, highlighting the special atmosphere.

"It is a new start from here and we will work hard on not disappointing you but rather exceed your expectations." S concluded as a final greeting.

"I was moved to see you all in out costumes. You did well." keiji praised the audience.

"I think we have become a good company, seeing you all here." AYA said eventually. "We want to look ahead further to bigger places."

"We are a band that can basically do anything and we would like to aim for a larger audience as well." seek added proudly.

"We have come this far in 5 years and I would like to do something like today again in the near future." MIKI said, before YUKI concluded: "We do what we can to go further. At our lives we want to show our most interesting sides and we'll give our best from here on!"

After this finish, the attending audience had the chance to get an exclusive picture with the Mix Speaker's,Inc. members individually, completing a very special party and a great memory for sure.
